2019: The Highs and THE Lows
Have you done your End of Year Review yet? How was your 2019?
Mine was a mixed experience - a year of developing a lot of inner strength & resilience and showing up no matter what. It’s been a year of globetrotting & lots of short chapters in different countries, a year of breaking way out of my comfort zone by hosting my first ever live events, greater financial empowerment & an uplevelled money mindset, some significant behind the scenes positive changes, and welcoming in my new dog, Teddy Pom Pom (best thing ever!).
Theer were some super fun firsts too - my first Breathwork class, my first naked Korean spa, my first Emotion Code session (love this modality), my first Pomeranian, my first Six Figure month, my first microblading (google it), my first live event for Money Beautifully, my first international live event for Thrive Beautifully, my first Money Mindset Challenge and my first night out on my own dancing in Miami (soooo much fun, I met the best people!).
I just LOVE this time and year and bringing it all into perspective…
Here are some of my personal Highs and Lows of 2019. I believe in honesty and integrity and to only share my Highs wouldn’t acknowledge the full breadth of the spiritual & human journey.
5 of the Highs
1. Thrive Beautifully
The first year of Thrive Beautifully my 12 Month Mastermind for Women Entrepreneurs. After running the first round for 6 months, we kicked off the first year long Mastermind in July with 16 amazing women from all around the world. Seeing my clients go from charging £100 a session to £7,500 months, securing Ted Talks, international exhibitions, competition wins, finally taking their businesses seriously and showing up in a whole new way, breaking through old belief systems & stories about what’s possible and being witness to & supporting their evolution – this is the best reward of all.
2. Teddy Pom Pom
My long awaited second fur-child came into my world in mid November and my heart burst wide open. Dog love is the absolute best. Nobody does unconditional love like a dog.
3. Money Beautifully 4 & 5 & Money Beautifully Live
I have led the Money Beautifully Programme journey live 5 times now, and every round is unique and deeply transformative. The souls that joined the journey in 2019 were truly special: game changers, spiritual leaders & visionary creatives. I loved journeying with you all & watching you call in more and more abundance into your lives & heal your relationship with money.
4. The Digital Nomad Life
This year was way more international than I planned…. This is one of the most asked questions I get… so here’s a rough run down of how I spent 2019 as a digital nomad:
Jan, Feb – Ibiza
March – Miami/Arizona
April – Ibiza
May – Ibiza
June, July, Aug – LA
Sep, Oct London
Oct – Ibiza/London
Nov – Arizona/London
Dec - London
It was a huge sense of freedom….glamorous, exciting, adventurous, fun, enriching and at times very peaceful. I met amazing new people, had awesome new experiences (like the mugwort bath & Himalayan salt room at the naked Korean spa) & learned I can figure things out in any situation.
(p.s. It was also challenging & tiring…see below!)
5. Financial Breakthroughs
My first six figure month (in contracts), my first sold out live event, 6 successful launches and my first international 2 day live event.
I cleared all my credit cards, successfully tracked my money all year, set up my savings pots, opened an investment account and successfully aligned my expenditure with my values. The result of going through 5 rounds of Money Beautifully & clearing more & more money blocks! #themoneybeautifullyeffect
When in London I hired Fresh Fitness Food to deliver all my custom gluten-free, dairy-free, meat-free, healthy meals ready to my door each day. An absolute game changer and freed up so much time. I consider that a smart investment in my health and business.
5 of the Lows
1. Business Admin & Chasing Payments
Clients defaulting on their commitments, contracts & payment plans is a time and energy drain and it happens to everyone in business. I recommend making the goal to learn to accept this, and to set up systems & processes to minimise and handle it.
I was called to step up and be the woman that honours her boundaries, respects herself & her work, takes powerful action, uphold fairness and justice, and is willing not to be liked. I also got more clarity on the kind of client I choose to work with moving forwards.
2. Growing fast & beyond my team’s capacity
The first 6 months of 2019 involved such rapid growth it was hard on me and my main assistant. Recruiting the right fit new team members took longer than expected and it put a lot of pressure on each both to keep up with the demands of running 2 live programmes, 7 launches, 3 live events, and supporting all of our community & clients. The ball didn’t get dropped & I am incredibly proud of myself and my team in the level of customer support & interaction and the quality of services and programmes that we offer, but there was an intensity that’s not sustainable long term with such a small team.
So I got hiring.
Firstly there was the person I hired who couldn’t fulfil some key parts of the role, then the one that accepted the role & quit before they actually started, and then the one who unexpectedly became a single parent on day one & no longer had the availability I hired her for. Yes, that was 3 people we onboarded in the space of 6 months, only to have to start over. Deeep breath! Mantra: I can do this.
3. Giving too much
I gave way too much to people that didn’t always appreciate it. Diving into my own motivations for over-giving, and how and when I slip into this pattern, is helping me move past it and hold back some of my energy for me, rather than giving it all away to others. An empty cup is no good to anyone.
If you have a tendency to give too much, remember that your clients have their own patterns, preferences, path and choices playing out, and you are not responsible for their results.
4. Living as a digital nomad between Miami/Ibiza/London & LA
Yes, constantly moving around & living as a digital nomad has it’s challenges. Loneliness, the sheer energy it takes to figure out where to buy food, where to work out, how everything works, constantly packing and unpacking & checking the wifi speed… early starts to work with my team on another time zone….I know it looks glamorous but it can be exhausting, hard to grow relationships, figure things out and I dearly miss having a home to call my own and a base in the world.
I’m been living bi-coastal (as they say in the US) or bi-country for 10 years now, so I can’t imagine just having one home in the world….it’s so totally normal for me to split my time between several places, but at the same time I am craving more stability. I have figured out what that looks like so now I am manifesting….
5. Discovering the Dark Side
Dark & negative energies are present on the planet in life, and in people. Everyone has a dark side or a shadow side, and this year I experienced this energy in a bigger way as my success & visibility triggered others.
Light and dark energies co-exist and the healing & spiritual worlds are no exception – much as people may seem full of light and love, often this masks a darker side or patterns that they are unwilling to acknowledge or have not worked on, or are under the influence of. I was witness to some dark energy this year.
As a result I learned powerful tools for handling psychic attack, protecting my energy & received support & wisdom from some amazing people in this field.
I now know how to support my own clients in this much overlooked area. Energy is very powerful and can be used for both positive and negative purposes, consciously and unconsciously (that’s another blog post).
I also got to define what was acceptable for me, what I am available for, and the level I require people around me to show up at.
Did I mention I was learning boundaries this year?!
Every year is an opportunity to practise forgiveness for those who have disappointed us, let us down or betrayed us. For me, this year had lots of opportunities to choose a powerful No and uphold my boundaries about what is acceptable.
The truth is that most people climb on our life train for a while, and when their time is up, it’s time for them to climb off and move on.
I choose to let go of relationships that no longer serve me with grace, dignity and compassion.
